As a passionate animal advocate, Craig’s animal welfare career started with Auckland SPCA in New Zealand where he worked in a variety of roles, from kennel hand to publicity coordinator, for 8 years.
Craig is the Communications & PR Manager for Animal Welfare League Queensland (AWLQ) in Australia where he is responsible for providing direction to AWLQ’s Communications and PR portfolio to achieve their goals and deliver on strategic objectives. Managing the media and communications at one of Australia’s largest and leading animal welfare organizations means sharing stories about AWLQ’s lifesaving work through leadership and strategic direction of all public relations (PR) and media initiatives to advance AWLQ’s brand identity and broaden awareness of its programs and priorities. This includes preparing media advice, strategic plans and operational reports to promote program-specific objectives and the strategic priorities of the organisation. Craig is also responsible for developing and implementing public relations, media, and campaigns alongside relevant teams and confirm key messaging for all associated public relations and media activity.
Craig describes his involvement with HASS, in particular the MarComs Working Group, as a career highlight and that every engagement with HASS leaves him completely inspired. Adding how beneficial working alongside world-leaders in animal welfare and collaborating with so many passionate, like-minded people is.
