Liana Moss

Keeping Families Together Implementation Coordinator

Liana is the Keeping Families Together Implementation Coordinator with American Pets Alive!. Previously, she was the Community Outreach Specialist with Pima Animal Care Center (PACC) in Tucson, Arizona, where she worked with people experiencing homelessness and those facing extreme poverty to keep and care for their pets. She developed and coordinated multiple community outreach programs, including those created in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. The relationships with fellow Pima County community members and their pets, created through boots-on-the-ground engagement, are some of the most meaningful and transformative of her life. A strong believer in the strengths-based approach and community assets driven engagement, she is honored and excited to be a part of the HASS Keeping Families Together team. Liana’s love for animals developed at an early age, when she would drag her parents to the local animal shelter in Agoura Hills, California to visit the pets staying there. She volunteered with L.I.F.E. Animal Rescue and worked as a veterinary technician before focusing her career on serving both humans and animals in her community through an interdisciplinary approach. She is currently pursuing a Master of Social Work and a certificate in Animal Assisted Social Work at the University of Denver, where she concentrates in Organizational Leadership & Policy Practice. She lives in Denver, Colorado with her beloved dog, Scout, and the myriad of foster dogs that make their way into her heart. She credits her first dogs, Fritz and Ellie, for showing her the love and magic of rescue dogs.
