Angela Gates is the Data and Digital Tools Coordinator for Human Animal Support Services and previously served as an Embedded Data Coordinator for the HASS project. Angela got her start in animal welfare working with the Oklahoma Humane Society as a Neonatal Animal Care Associate before becoming their Neonate Program Manager in 2020.
During her time with OK Humane, she helped build their neonate program by partnering with local shelters to move kittens and puppies under the age of 6 weeks old into specially-trained foster homes equipped to save tiny lives. Angela also worked closely with the medical and intake teams at OK Humane to help establish and annually re-evaluate operational procedures and data protocols to ensure program success. In her role as Embedded Data Coordinator she was able to pair this knowledge of animal level data with coding and dashboard building experience to assist her team and pilot shelters.
Angela was also briefly a coordinator for adult cats during her time with OK Humane and has a soft spot for felines with behavior challenges as well as cats that have special needs, including blindness and mobility challenges. Prior to her work with animals, Angela has been in other non-profit and higher education roles and has a background in the performing arts.
